Heterosexism

All gays have coming out stories, they frequently say they came out of the closet. I came out of a social construction that stated that the only normal sexuality was heterosexuality and the only normal gender was female or male. Therefore, I did not come out of any closet, I came out of heterosexism. Their will be those who state that heterosexism does not exist, but they can deny our coming out stories. Heteosexismm often gets labled as homophobia which has not helped the gay rights movement. Once the media starting calling what was happening to African AMericans segregation is when people had to see and read that their was a name to describe what was happening. People starting understanding racism and did not want to be racist. Until leaders accurately describe the segregation of gays is when gay rights will happen. We still rise, we will not apologize for anything!
